Rainy days have a special appeal that has always touched my heart. I am mesmerised by the calming rhythm as the skies begin to open and rains begin their soft pounding on rooftops and windows. I feel as though the outside world has entered a comfortable creative bubble with me, and I can’t help but giggle at the coincidence.
The soothing cadence of the wet background and its impact on my motivation are nearly miraculous. The rains’ white noise reminds me of nature’s own productivity soundtrack, a serene symphony that motivates me to complete my tasks. Distractions tend to be drowned out by the symphony of rainfall, which allows for unbroken thought.
And I’m here right now, typing away with purpose as rains paint works of beauty on my windowpane. The dripping sound of the rain acts as a constant tempo that synchronises my fingers’ movement across the piano. It is as though the rain is saying, “Keep going; you’re doing it right.”
A warm cup of coffee, which I always have at my side on days like this, is sitting there. An environment of consolation and inspiration is created by the comforting touch of the coffee cup in my hands, the perfume of the coffee, and the music of the rain. With each drink, I pause to think about the thoughts that are coming to the screen from my head.
