Oh, How I Love Being a Woman
Growing up, I discovered that being a woman meant embracing both the strength and the femininity of that identity.
The sisterhood that crosses boundaries and cultural backgrounds is one of womanhood’s most amazing qualities. I developed connections with other women that evolved into safe havens of understanding, compassion, and solidarity.
I became aware that we were all formed of the same fabric of aspirations, complexity, and emotions during late-night chats that were also filled with treating ourselves with makeup, an excursion to the hairdresser, and an evening of manicure pampering.
We produce more than just looks when we laugh and reveal secrets; we produce memories that shine. My spirits are raised by my girlfriends’ friendship in a manner that only sisterhood ties can.
I’m reminded of the power that exists in a reassuring embrace or a meaningful discussion, connecting spirits in ways words frequently cannot.
The intensity of feelings that come with sobbing and laughing till I can’t breathe serves as a reminder of the vast range of emotions that constitute our humanity.
