My Migraine Day

As I opened my eyes this morning, I immediately felt that all-too-familiar throbbing in my brain. All of these symptoms the constant pounding, the nauseating feeling, the sensitivity to light were present and bombarding me with full force. I had a feeling that today was going to be one of those days when I would be confined to bed and powerless to do anything else.

In the hopes that they would do their job, I went to the toilet and grabbed the pills. I then climbed back into bed and covered my head in an effort to shut out the outside world.

Migraines are annoying because they don’t give a damn about what you have planned. They don’t care about the meetings you were scheduled to attend or the list of tasks you had for the day. No, a migraine has its own agenda that has nothing to do with your productivity.

I couldn’t help but think about the things I needed to get done today — errands I needed to do, work I needed to catch up on, and social engagements I needed to cancel — as I lay there in the pitch-blackness. I find it annoying, don’t you? Migraines have this amazing knack for destroying even the most carefully planned out day.
