Is it right to hold people accountable for their ignorance? I’ve written about ignorance before and it still irritates me. I find it confusing that people would admit when they are ignorant, but will not take the time to learn for themselves.
Without a doubt, gaining more knowledge improves your perspectives.
I’m tired of trying to educate people about real-world problems and having it seem to go in one ear and out the other. When innocent people are the victims of injustice, how can we look the other way and say nothing? How can we continue our regular lives, eating and sleeping, knowing that such injustices exist? Being silent on these issues is a privilege.
Even although I may not be personally impacted by these injustices, my humanity makes us linked. How come my life is calm while others’ is not?
Being ignorant in the first place is what gives us the privilege of ignoring these problems.
When people are unwilling to accept learning, I’m filled with anger and frustration. Really, it is exhausting. I want to apologise for my rant this morning, but I had to address this. Knowing is power and I hope that whoever reads this realises that. Recognising our privileges and making an effort to educate ourselves is important.
