Hello,
It’s Sumaya again.
As the Christmas season fastly approaches, many people are preparing to spend time with their loved ones. However, it is important to recognise that not everyone has this advanatge.
Reflecting on my own memories, I remember a time when showing Christmas presents online was a trend, but today’s economic problems, driven by inflation, have increased the cost of everything.
Despite not being a Christian, I recognise the common thread of appreciation that runs through the Abrahamic religions. This time of year offers as a reminder to value the necessities, such as lovingly cooked meals and company.
Above everything, the genuine meaning lies in being appreciative for the things that money cannot buy, the most important of which is love.
In the middle of our everyday problems, it’s important to remember the less fortunate.
While we may moan about insignificant issues, there are some who have little and wish for the life we often take for granted.
It’s humbling to realise how lucky we are and our overriding emotion should be sincere thankfulness.
So here’s my question for you:
What are you thankful for this year?
Love,
Sumaya
