A Typical Rainy European Summer
From Writing Retreats to Rainy Strolls, Embracing the Essence of a Unique Summer Journey
Let’s face it: this summer in the UK wasn’t as sunny as we had all imagined. Rather, it seemed to resemble a never-ending monsoon season. But guess what? Despite this, I had a fantastic time during my leave from teaching.
This summer was a rollercoaster of damp experiences and creative retreats that I wouldn’t exchange for anything, from writing sessions to explroing my home city of London and travelling up to Scotland.
I’m now left with a combination of nostalgia, enthusiasm, and a tiny amount of “what’s next?” dread as the days become shorter and the weather gets crisper.
Writing Through the Rain
I’ll be honest; I didn’t really mind the rain. In fact, it started to serve as the background music during my writing sessions. Being bundled up indoors as the rain knocks on your window has an unexpectedly cosy quality; it’s similar to having a creative bubble to oneself. Those gloomy days were the ideal justification for me to have my fingers to computer and delve into realms I’d only ever dreamed about.
